When I saw the title I had hopes of a good Scottish story. It turned out to be a soft-porn story in a so-called Regency frame.
Why does the author bother with indecency if two people travel together when they already have spent 14 days in each other's company itemizing a library? The author obviously does not know what handfasting is as she has it performed by a vicar who accidentally reads the wrong lines? Why would handfasting be a socially acceptable thing to do in Regency days if it's only for a year and a day? It's a sure thing to ruin a lady anyway. Why would a girl under such circumstances be hired as a governess for 5 small girls? Absolute fiddlesticks.
The book in itself its good. The story line is decent a bit winded but good, nonetheless. Towards the end you have to use a bit more imagination to grasp the meaning of the closing chapter. For the future, I would recommend that the author put a bit more information on the script.
I think the ending was a bit rushed. I liked Timothy and how he was a gentleman and hadnt had much lovers and I loved that he wore eye glasses. Katrina was a great match for him but the ending left me a bit disappointed and I think an epilogue would have made this short story perfect.
I really enjoyed Handfasted. I had never heard of this ceremony before and think it should be applied in today's society. The relationship between Lord Timothy and the ever curious Katrina was steamy hot. I have now finished all three of the (To Love a Governess) Novellas. By far, Sacked and Handfasted are my favorite. The fact that this story includes references to books (naughty ones), a lending library, and bookstore made it a great read for me. Would recommend to all Romance fans.
Lovely short story. Wish it was longer. Uplifting, romantic and sensual yet not overly graphic. Ms Charles never disappoints. HIGHLY recommend.
This a quick, sexy read sure to heat up a cold winter night (you don't have to light a fire) the pages simply sizzle!
Short and sweet this book is a great little love story with hubba hubba moments. With a touch of humor Katrina and Thimothy fall head over heels and live happy ever after just the way love stories should be...I look forward to reading other great stories from this author!
